And in a few years, you will (maybe) be enlightened/educated about the price/performance and the power of open platforms and open systems over proprietary ‘appliance’-like devices.

I understand that open platforms have their advantages, but after many years of experience with different systems, I decided to go with Apple's platform. This is not a matter of lack of knowledge, but rather a conscious choice that meets my expectations. Everyone has their own preferences, and for me, the Apple ecosystem is a long shot.wickedpotus wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 11:52 amAnd in a few years, you will (maybe) be enlightened/educated about the price/performance and the power of open platforms and open systems over proprietary ‘appliance’-like devices.![]()

I am team AMD, although Intel systems do have AVX512, which is useful. AMD tops the performance list for high-end CPUs: see https://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html. There are some Intel systems on the list, but they tend to be costly and have high power requirements.

This www.cpubenchmark.net is missing fastest CPUs. Like 128 cores Ampere.

As a non-Apple fan, for a long time I've been having to grudgingly admit that the M range were the best SOCs for portable devices.
Not any longer - the Snapdragon X Elite is now faster - link!
