I assume this means that before upgrading to Win 11, I will have to upgrade my Geforce 650 Ti to a GPU that is DX12 capable?
...
I am not sure on this, MS website says Windows 11 needs DX12, and Wikipedia says Nvidia Kepler supports DX 11.x, better install latest drivers and lookup in your system settings* which DirectX version currently runs or use the Windows 11 compatibility check tool when available. I can confirm that the Nvidia GTX 750 (the smallest GPU with Maxwell arch) runs with DirectX 12 on Win 10.

*type 'dxdiag' in your search box at bottom.

Not really, no matter of gaming perfomance, AMD do not support CUDA (no matter integrated GPU or powerful XT board).
LC0 can only run OpenCL or DirectX12 on AMD

I have Ryzen 3400G with Vega 11 (5700G has similar Vega 8, gaming perfomance is on par)
256x20 network gives 373 nps @ startpos go depth 12
128x10 network gives 2476 nps @ startpos go depth 14

Even GeForce 940MX is 2x faster in LC0 than Vega 11

For comparison, low-end GTX-1650 gives 4486 nps and 22 122 nps respectively.
That is 9-12x times slower. Meanwhile in 3DMark performance is only 50% slower.

Even this Geforce 1050Ti is more powerful for only $275.00 https://www.newegg.com/p/1FT-00BE-00011 ... 171-_--_-5

I won't be doing any lc0 computing.
Current card it Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost, which I'm happy with in terms of resolution and ports.
MacBook Pro
16-inch
M1X chip
10 cpu cores

lil followup:

Just looked up for an used budget machine, Nvidia GTX 750 has Windows 11 driver support, AMD put GCN 1 and 2 on legacy driver support, the entry-level AMD RX 550 (GCN 4) has Windows 11 and Linux support, used GTX 750 and RX 550 are available for <50 bucks on eBay....

Now that Trump has won the elections in a country somewhere I don't remember exactly where it was, but the crypto pyramid game is on again if it is up to the Republican party, probably not in China but the crypto miners there went over the border to Mongolia when the communist party in China did no longer want that nonsense and now they are heading over the Bering strait for Alaska I think :) anyway, GPUs maybe will be getting more expensive again, it (also) depends on if people believe the Eliza pyramid game will fool enough people not already poor. I do not really need a GPU for much, only for KataGo I think but maybe it has added benefit if you use the computer to cast television or movies on a big display or television etc.. I do not know yet. But I have a 'new' workstation able PC now in case I want to do something with that, who knows climate modeling and stuff :)

I bought a used workstation with where Ed usually buys his stuff, it is second hand of course the whole computer PLUS a docking station that has Display ports and Thunderbird cable! The docking station was relatively the most expensive thing in the package. Back in 2017 the Intel i7 retailed for $378 I paid maybe 100 Euro more for the whole computer and for a little more Ben from Queensystems installed 8 GB extra memory for me, gave advice on the docking system and everything. If you want a real computer with real guarantee buy something that is tested and tried I say (to steal a quote from Trump)

This is my new computer more or less, only this has an older i7; the ones available (laptops I mean, on the site) are a bit more expensive but if you wait there usually comes up a very good deal too. And Ben may have some older stuff not displayed on the site but still in the store. Windows 10 computers that can't install Windows 11 for instance will be a bit cheaper but usually are a bit older too.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.
