Ding did an impressive tightrope walk today and held the draw under both relentless positional pressure and nerve-wracking time pressure.

In the final classical game tomorrow, he has the white pieces.

For the first time since game 3, when Gukesh equalised the match with a win, Ding is strong favourite:

Ding: ......... 1.67
Gukesh: .... 2.1

Well, a probability of circa 55%-45% is not strong for me. It is true that Lichess thought after game 12 that Ding is the strong favourite if the match reaches the last game (0 games to spare in the image below):

(Around 6 to 1 in favour of Ding, just like a day not being Sunday in a week, mainly if the match finally goes to the tiebreaks). 0 in the image above does not mean tiebreaks by force, because any player could win the last classical TC game tomorrow and become the champion.

Regards from Spain.

i wanted to do another poll relating this championship, but it looks like i can't add another one on this thread. anyway, i was hoping to get a sense of our forum members' intuition on the possible outcome of Game 14: :)

A) Draw
B) Ding wins
C) Gukesh wins

draw is possible but Gukesh could exploit his time/material advantage for a win. let's see...

I voted for Ding and I wanted him to win, but I wholeheartedly congratulate Gukesh. Just 18, and fights like an Indian tiger - relentlessly generating pressure. We have a very exciting new world champion today!

Great. 18 years and champion number 18. Difficult to improve! No rapid playoff. Gukesh has more than 100 elo less rapid/blitz rating.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the coverage of this match online and what a way to end!
Thanks to both players for putting on a great show and congrats to Gukesh for his achievement.
I can't wait for the next one :)
I wonder who he'll be playing? :o

I felt so sorry for Ding. Chessbase India coverage was Gold. The german chess.com coverage, GM was rather angry about that blunder.
