Good to know that there is a new version of Thinker, any idea about its improvement, I assume you've tested it already? Ps; I'm right now not at home, so the site to download it from gets blocked.

On a quick test (on single core ) Thinker 5.3B is over Fruit 05/11/03 and Loop 13.6 ( Passive version X32 )-in 10'+5" time control.
Nothing about Active and Inert ( yes-a new version ) !

Thinker 5.3b Inert is supposed to be the strongest for engine v engine testing.swami wrote:Good to know that there is a new version of Thinker, any idea about its improvement, I assume you've tested it already? Ps; I'm right now not at home, so the site to download it from gets blocked.

Thanks, Last time I tested it, It was "Passive", now It's been changed to "Inert". I assume both are the same settings with the name changed.Graham Banks wrote:Thinker 5.3b Inert is supposed to be the strongest for engine v engine testing.swami wrote:Good to know that there is a new version of Thinker, any idea about its improvement, I assume you've tested it already? Actually, there are three different versions of Thinker now, Passive, Active and Inert. I guess, going by the name, Inert's playing style is supposed to be somewhere in between Passive and Active...? Also, Lance Perkins is now working on Thinker with another person, Kerwin Medina, as announced in the Winboard Forum.swami wrote: Thanks, Last time I tested it, It was "Passive", now It's been changed to "Inert". Anyway, It's going to be 3rd strongest engine next to Rybka and Naum in ACCA. With hardware disadvantage it has, I think it will contend for the 4th placings.
Thanks for the info, Tony. I wasn't aware of it.tmokonen wrote:Actually, there are three different versions of Thinker now, Passive, Active and Inert. From the name I thought that Inert would be something that plays a boring game, yet manages to win sort of like Rybka 2.3.2.tmokonen wrote:Actually, there are three different versions of Thinker now, Passive, Active and Inert.
