Which means it would be ideal if my engine was able to use 256mb hash but it is not required. right?

I can mention progress, no more crashes and time forfeits with version 5

Code: Select all

No. Name Win Draw Loss Unf. Score Games %
--------------------------------------------------------
  1 blunder-5.0 +554 =129 -317 *0 618.5 1000 61.9% CCRL ELO 2022
  2 lazysmp-5.0 +317 =129 -554 *0 381.5 1000 38.1%

Code: Select all

No. Name Win Draw Loss Unf. Score Games %
--------------------------------------------------------
  1 lazysmp-5.0 +549 =179 -272 *0 638.5 1000 63.9%
  2 Drofa_1.0 +272 =179 -549 *0 361.5 1000 36.1% CCRL ELO 1988
90% of coding is debugging, the other 10% is writing bugs.

If you want me to test it, I'd like the option of using 256mb hash.

From the results that Ed posted, you're still a way off reaching 2400 though.

By the way, you never answered me about why you won't use your real name. At present I'm thinking that you're just being mischievous.

When Graham asks you about the 5.7MB memory footprint it is not that he doesn't want to test engine unless it uses more, but just because he did not realize your engine uses no transition table, and thought it needed some special trick to set the TT size. Which by CCRL is set to the size of 256MB for fair testing. It means he took the trouble of downloading and trying your engine, which is a good first step. I did not see him state anywhere that not having a TT was a reason to exclude it from testing, and stating in public that he did is again another good way of antagonizing him.

I leave TalkChess forever. There are people here who do not allow anyone to progress and only intended to destroy my discussion/engine.

Forever Goodbye

You delayed me for more than a month to test my engine, I fixed all the bugs in the engine, but in the end you don't test my engine for unreasonable reasons. I think of the past as destroyed time, and it was really probably the most emotionally destroying time of my life.

I choose to have faith, because without that, I have nothing… It's the only thing that's keeping me going. I have nothing more to say beyond that It's really unfortunate for those who tried not to test my engine and destroyed my discussion.

Let me tell you how my engine got tested.

I started developing my engine in the end of 2016. I did not contact anybody about that via forum, discord, mail or whatever.

I uploaded my engine to Github in July 2017 just to sync the sources on my three computers that I used for development. I never actively published anything of that via forum, discord, mail.

I tested my engine myself using ~50 different engines that I found at CCRL in the < 2000Elo area. I never actively published anything of that via forum, discord, mail.

Graham contacted me end of 2017 (probably in some chat, maybe at TCEC) and told me that he found my engine and will let it play in his 67th amateur div 9.

A big surprise for me. So I watched my engine playing at Graham's tourneys live and this raised my motivation a lot to improve the engine. So over the years it got stronger and other testers got notice and also tested it.

Graham suggested my engine to the TCEC organizers so it started playing there since 2019.

This is how things can work.

I don't understand you. Was appearing on the CCRL list the only motivation for you to develop your engine? Was it not for fun or learning?

Graham is under no obligation whatsoever to test your engine, and if there is any 'delay', you caused it yourself by wasting your time on arguing with Graham rather than further developing your engine to make sure it would meet Graham's demands for running engines in his tournaments.

As I explained to you, trying to bully other people into doing you a favor will invariably have the consequence that you won't get any favors from them at all.

[Moderation] I split this discussion from the engine-releases thread, as the latter is only intended for announcement of new engines, and not for lengthy discussion on testing one particular engine, or CCRL testing policy.
